Pharmaceutical microbiology can be defined as part of microbiology, which has a special influence on the pharmacy in all its aspects. This will vary from manufacturing and quality control of pharmaceutical products for the understanding of the mode of action of antibiotics. The total length of microbiology in the pharmaceutical field can be judged from the content section. As this book is aimed at undergraduate students of pharmacy (as well as microbiologists entering the pharmaceutical industry) authors were under pressure to limit the length of the book to keep it in a price range set.
It is hoped that the book will provide a concise reading for students of pharmacy (which at the time, no one book on this subject) and help to highlight parts of a general microbiological training focussed on the pharmaceutical industry.
